Description

Laminated glass is made by permanently bonding two or more lites of glass together with a polymeric interlayer sheet using a process that involves exposure to cycles of heat and pressure within a specialized autoclave chamber. More than ever, laminated glass products are being used in various types of building construction applications serving as durable, translucent fenestration and building interior material options that offer the benefits of daylighting and unobstructed views while also meeting building code standard requirements for safety glazing applications. Laminated glass is effective at reducing the probability of injury. Similar to what you see in a windshield when laminated glass sustains an impact, the adhesion of ruptured glass to the interlayer material prevents the glass from shattering and becoming potentially-lethal projectiles, and it often results in the glass being safely retained within a framing or channel system. The protective properties of laminated glass can be further enhanced using combinations of thicker glass and thicker interlayer components and through the use of more durable, stiffer or structural interlayer materials.

Key Product Features

Noise Reduction

Effectively minimizing sound transmission can be achieved using laminated glass products, with higher levels of sound attenuation performance coming with the use of specialized sound control interlayer products.

Safety Glazing

Laminated glass products can qualify as building code-complying construction materials when used in applications where safety glass is required. When properly designed, it is an effective way to minimize the probability of lethal injury in areas where glass is used.

Blocks UV

Laminated glass can block over 99% of all harmful UV rays. This is an important feature that allows you to protect the color integrity of items such as artwork, furnishings, fabrics or flooring materials.

Versatility

Laminated glass can be used in windows, doors, railings, balustrades, canopies, skylights, sculptures, stair treads and flooring.
